None of us have been untouched by the suffering of those on the earthquake ravaged island of Haiti.
I just want to encourage those of us who can, to give to the Red Cross either in monetary donations or blood. In a situation where there are so many traumatic injuries, blood will be especially important.

I totally agree, and coincidentally I'm going this week to donate blood so hopefully they'll use my donation somehow to link with this disaster. I'll find out when I go, maybe tomorrow. I'll let you know what they tell me. I've also made a small monetary donation, couldn't give much but every bit helps.

You know, what they do is take blood already donated from all around the world, to the trouble spot. But then of course that leaves the centers locally low on blood, so when there are accidents or heart surgeries or whatever, the local blood bank is low. So, no matter where your units of blood are actually used, it's all going for the same cause, and it is the gift of life!
Bless you Beth, for giving!

If you live in the US Text ~ HAITI to 90999 ~ Your phone company will automatically bill you $10.00. A quick painless way to donate to the Red Cross. The effort has been very well received.

Bless you Beth, for giving! Hey Nan it's the least I can do, something selfless, I try

I sent in a donation, but the kids were asked to fill buckets with toiletries for Haiti and bring inot school. They stuffed as much as they could into those buckets, trying to think of everything that may be needed, even a few toys and coloring books.
That's a wonderful idea and kids are soooo smart and think of the BEST things to send. The coloring books and toys will be greatly appreciated when you've lost everything. You cannot imagine how much we take for granted when you can stand there and hold everything you own in the palm of your hands. A truly humbling experience. Kids get it and yours have wonderful hearts and spirits you can be very proud.

Yes, they are very generous, they even used some of their own money. Neither one has a mean bone in their body, wish I could say the same about some of the other kids they've encountered along the way.
That's a wonderful way for the children to help ... makes the tragedy all the more real to them. I mentioned earlier (at least I think I did) that a local church with missionaries in Haiti collected truckloads of supplies this past weekend. I made my donation through them.
